LYNWOOD LEWIS WINS THE SPECIAL ELECTION ON JAN.7!

The Virginia State Board of Elections certified results from the January 7th District 6 Senate race, affirming the nine-vote win of Democrat Delegate Lynwood Lewis Jr. over Norfolk businessman B. Wayne Coleman.

Democrats in the 100th District held a caucus to nominate a candidate to fill former Delegate Lewis' seat on Saturday February 1, 2014. Former Northampton County Board of Supervisers member Willie Randall was the winner and will now face off against Republican Robert Bloxom, Jr. in a Special Election on February 25th.

DPVA Statement on Results of Sixth Senate District Democratic Nominating Caucus

RICHMOND -- DPVA Chair Charniele Herring released this statement following the results in today's Sixth Senate District Democratic nominating caucus:

"I want to congratulate my colleague Delegate Lynwood Lewis on his victory in today's Sixth Senate District Democratic nominating caucus. Lynwood and his staff should be proud of the campaign they ran. I also want to thank former Delegate Paula Miller and Andria McClellan for their unwavering commitment to the 6th District and this Commonwealth. With the nominations behind us, we're ready to work hard, together as Democrats, to ensure victory on Election Day.

"I firmly believe Delegate Lewis will represent the 6th District and work tirelessly for his constituents, as did Lieutenant Governor-elect Ralph Northam."

Primary lines
Long Lines did not deter determined Democrats who turned out in large numbers to vote at the Fire House in Onley. Thanks go out to all the volunteer election officials who worked to make the primary a success!
